TF1 Commuting Plan: soft mobility on the rise and car use on the decline

The use of public transport and bikes has been adopted by an extra 13% of TF1 employees in the last four years, to the detriment of individual cars, according to the second survey on commuting by the TF1 group as part of the “Commuting Plan”.

The system, launched in 2010 and mandatory for the largest companies in France, maps the commutes of employees and provides support in the shift to “soft mobility”, in other words, public transport, electric vehicles, two-wheelers and carpooling. For employees, the idea is to cut transport times, enhance transport comfort, and reduce fatigue, stress and the risk of accidents. For the company, the carbon footprint included in its environmental supplements social issues. 

Initiatives at TF1 include the 80% reimbursement of monthly public transport passes, a fleet of electric vehicles for travelling to professional meetings, and a garage for two-wheelers.

But the partnership with the local authorities is also vital to the initiative. Among the most common requests to further step up the momentum in place are the increased frequency of the 189 bus line that serves the Boulogne site and the construction of safer bike paths.
