TF1 hosts the “Ma caméra chez les pros” awards

TF1 welcomed 100 middle-school students on Monday 2 June for the “Ma camera chez les pros” (“Filming professions”) awards ceremony. The aim of the initiative is to enable 14- and 15-year-old students to find out more about the professional world.  

Safran, GDF Suez, Alcatel-Lucent, B2S, Sanofi, Vinci, Brico Dépôt, Odéon Théâtre de l’Europe and Central Dupon Images also partnered the competition, initiated by SFR with the French Education Ministry.

This year, seven middle schools in the Ile-de-France region (Rosa Parks in Gentilly, Jean Moulin in Aubervilliers, Jean-Baptiste Clément in the 20th arrondissement in Paris, Paul Eluard in Evry, Jean Renoir in Boulogne-Billancourt, Les Dînes Chiens in Chilly-Mazarin and Joliot-Curie in Bagneux) took part in the programme. Each class of 14- and 15-year-olds produced a three-minute report in the form of an interview illustrating a future profession of one of the partner companies. For the second year, TF1 supported the students of the Jean Renoir middle school in Boulogne-Billancourt, who created a report on TF1 Publicité. They benefitted from assistance and advice from TF1 group journalists and from the AS club of former TF1 employees.

“The initiative proved extremely beneficial for my students,” said Vincent Cano, teacher at the Jean Renoir school. “‘Ma caméra chez les pros’ brings them a real-life look at the professional world that is essential at 15 years of age. The children were really curious to find out about different professions and business worlds. They learned how to talk and handle themselves in front of a camera and conduct an interview – and all as part of a fun approach. We will definitely be doing this again!”   

The awards were attributed by the jury in the presence of Anne Petinelli, responsible for relations between schools and businesses at the Paris Local Education Authority. To honour and acknowledge the work of the students, each college won one of seven prizes: storyline, interview, direction, script, editing, boldness, and investigation. The Jean Renoir school won the best script prize for its report on the professions of TF1 Publicité. First prize was awarded to the Paul Eluard school in Evry.
