2015 Pièces Jaunes Campaign from January 7 to February 14

Since its creation in 1989, the Fondation Hôpitaux de Paris-Hôpitaux de France has every year organised a fund-raising campaign in favour of hospitalised children and teenagers. The sums raised serve to improve the everyday lives of the children. Under the name of Pièces Jaunes (small change), the community-minded campaign is celebrating its 25th birthday in 2014.

The aim: Bring comfort to hospitalised children and teenagers.

The symbol: A piggybank available in all La Poste post offices starting on January 7, 2015, to be returned to the same place before February 14 filled with as many coins as possible.

The target: Raise €4 million to honour the subsidy requests already submitted by the hospitals.

Civic behaviour: Healthy children are asked to collect funds for hospitalised children.

Commenting, Bernadette Chirac, Chairwoman of the Fondation Hôpitaux de Paris-Hôpitaux de France, said: “Given the needs of hospitals across France, we have to redouble our efforts. So that sick children may continue to laugh, learn and live, we are counting on everyone’s involvement, according to their means. Thanks to the generosity of the French population, we have been able to finance 7,973 projects in 448 towns in France. We can be proud of that achievement, and it is with the same determination that we intend to continue our initiatives for hospitals. They need us, they need you. So don’t forget: every coin counts!”

Claude Griscelli, paediatrician, founder and Vice-Chairman of the Fondation Hôpitaux de Paris-Hôpitaux de France, said: “I am proud that the campaign I launched in 1989 is entering its 26th campaign in 2015. The aim of the campaign has not changed, because the common denominator of all the initiatives backed by the Foundation has always been not just to make hospitals a place of exemplary healthcare but a place for living, open to the community, to the benefit of patients, their families and all hospital staff.”
