TF1 runs Disability Awareness workshops for children of staff

To tie in with Disability Awareness Week, TF1’s Diversity Team held an interactive event for employees’ children on Wednesday 18 November, aimed at dispelling misconceptions about disability.

Around fifty 6- to 10-year olds spent the afternoon enjoying a series of engaging activities organised by theatre company La Drôle Compagnie around 4 themes:

- ‘Seeing in the Dark’ – Children followed a multi-sensory trail while blindfolded.
- ‘Communicating without a Voice’ – Wearing headphones, the aim was to communicate using sign language.
- ‘Different mobility' – Children undertook an obstacle course in wheelchairs, helping them realise what difficulties - wheelchair users face every day.
- The final session was a theatre workshop called ‘Living Together’, run by a facilitator who uses a wheelchair.

At the end of the afternoon each child was awarded a diploma in ‘Living Together Inclusively’ and also took home a book about disability awareness.
